While modeling the sloped duct bank we noticed a component known as the vertical bend exists within the catalog which has a variant called "vertical bend - variable tangent" which is already listed in the catalog file.
When we added a new fittings along with its associate GUID with named as custom vertical bend to catalog still it won’t recognize new preference during the DB routing operations. (It considers first preference only)
Here’s the crux of the issue >>> The system defaults to the first variant listed in the CND catalog due to the pre-existing entry in the catalog. Therefore even if the Pref value for the new custom vertical bend fittings is added to the xml file the system will continue to prioritize the original first listed bend. Currently to ensure the system recognizes and selects the new custom vertical bend it requires to adjust the sequence in the catalog file to place custom vertical bend before the vertical bend - variable tangent.
So, that’s why an enhancement is required i.e. we need to change wherein after adding the fittings preference in the catalog xml file for the new part, It should allow the system to pick up both OR to have provision to which one user need to be considered during DB modeling process.
So overall summary is :- BRCM DB modeling should ensure and recognizes and selects the newly created custom vertical bend variant during DB routing operations despite the first sequence in the catalog xml file and it must have provision to select with user requirement and not with first preference of catalog only.
