In the current BRCM workflow, cables that belong to a circuit are typically routed through a common raceway path using the Includes option in Cable Manager. While this approach works in many cases, there are scenarios where it does not always produce the intended routing outcome, resulting in cables not being routed through the selected raceways.
In such situations, users rely on Manual Routing as an alternative. However, Manual Routing currently does not support multi‑selection of cables or raceways, which introduces inefficiencies when working with grouped or circuit based cables.
Enhance the Manual Routing workflow to support multi‑selection of cables, allowing users to:
Select multiple cables at once (for example, cables belonging to the same circuit or group)
Select a common raceway path a single time
Route all selected cables through the chosen raceways in one operation
This enhancement would provide a more efficient and reliable workflow when Manual Routing is required.
Allows accurate and complete raceway dedication across the full routing path.
Improves routing predictability by ensuring the system follows all specified raceways.
Reduces manual intervention and corrective rerouting.
Enhances engineering accuracy and consistency in complex routing scenarios.
Increases workflow efficiency and aligns tooling behavior with real-world design expectations.
| How frequently will feature be used? | Several times a day |
| How much time will you save? | This enhancement will save time by preventing repeated trial and error routing. Today, users must manually adjust or reroute cables whenever Auto Routing selects an incorrect raceway segment. Enabling full path raceway selection up front streamlines the workflow and reduces rework across every affected cable route. |

This is a well identified gap in the current Auto Routing workflow. Expanding Raceway Dedication beyond just the first segment directly addresses a real limitation users face today and this enhancement will reduce downstream cleanup effort, saving engineering time and improving overall productivity.
The proposed enhancement aligns the tool more closely with real world engineering practices, where the entire raceway path is intentionally planned and must be respected end to end as per project requirements.
Overall, this is a practical, high impact improvement that enhances usability, engineering accuracy and trust in the BRCM Auto Routing functionality.
