When using the raceway generator it would be nice to be able to generate flexible conduit that follows a spline curve and adds couplers whenever required. We want to ensure that we can report on the flexible conduit and coupler parts accurately in a BOM report.
Current Workflow:
We can convert arc into separate straight sections but for flexible conduit this should be considered as a single part and we should get all the information in the report as a single part. Information such as length of conduit and unit for single part.
We currently use straight parts to represent bends in the conduit, but we would like the conduit to be generated along the spline with each curve accurately modeled.
Design Considerations:
We may need to add a raceway system for flexible conduit so that we can represent this type of conduit.
Raceway generator would need to extrude a conduit along a spline curve to accurately represent a flexible conduit.
If the bend radius of the flexible conduit would be exceeded to create a curve or bend we should add a coupler fitting at that point in order to make the turn in such a way that would not exceed the maximum bend radius.
We also need to review how the parts are allocated with flexible conduit, essentially there are no bends but would have couplers for joining purposes.
If the bend radius exceeds some number for the type of conduit which say it can bend up to this radius safely as per the manufacturer-based value and if you need to bend it beyond this point you have to utilize a coupler.
How frequently will feature be used? | A few times a week |
How much time will you save? | Would save a lot of time and more accurately represent the conduit. |
