Please can we request an enhancement on the way insulation is currently implemented in OPM.
Currently, the insulation is placed at the pipeline creation level. If you create a new pipeline, you specify the material and thickness. This is then placed on all items in the pipeline. Currently, you can only "switch off" the insulation on items one at a time by using the modify tool and changing that specific component's insulation thickness to 0 mm. This is very time-consuming and open to potential errors because if you change something in the Pipeline Manager and the line items are recreated/reevaluated, the items are all reset to the default values as originally created during the new pipeline creation process. This means that the slow and tedious work of setting some of the components to 0mm is undone and has to be redone each time.
In large projects, some of these components are not in view and are then changed without the user realizing the change.
Please can we request the following enhancements:
Set the initial insulation material and thickness on pipeline creation, but allow the user to select multiple components to remove or change the insulation status.
Allow the user to select and remove parts of the insulation on straight piping and report this on isometrics with dimensions
Enhance graphics to show end options, typical cap end, bevel end or sloped (like reducer) ends, also give options for elbows as smooth or segmented. I know this is only graphical but more and more our reviewers are asking for realistic representations as seen in other applications.
