Background Automated Data Synchronization

the way synchronization works is it checks DGN vs DB and compare them.. in the process of it, the software asks the user to "Please wait...", prompts differencing dialog (which users usually ignore).. and data is not "synched" some changes by other user was not incorporated.

It would have been a lot better if the software does this checking/comparing of data in the background and only prompts if there was a change.

For example scenario. PID1 and PID2 is connected, PID1 and PID2 is connected via page connector, PID1 is opened by User1 and PID2 by User2..

User1 Made change to a line spec in PID1 and synched into Plantsight. while User2 is working he sync his drawing to plantsight, changes made by User1 is not incorporated.

The issue with the current manual synchronization is some changes by multiple users are not properly "Synched" but rather overridden, Differencing Dialog is not very effective as user tends to just click "OK" button. invalidating the change made on another PID, vice versa.

another issue is the amount of time user has to spent "waiting" just to sync little changes. there are cases where busy drawings takes 1 minute or two to update small change. a lot of small changes happen every time and that time it takes to sync data compounds into something substantial.

its much better if it checks/compare data in the background and only prompt user for any changes in his drawing.

e.g. "User1 has made changes that affects your drawing.. click here to apply the changes"

Periodic checks/comparison of data at time intervals is necessary and software does it in the background.

How frequently will feature be used? Several times a day
How much time will you save? Few Mins * No. of Dgnfiles * No. of times of Synch * No. of Draftee * No. of Projects = a lot
