Current behavior
We use a system code as part of our tag setup (for example, system code "CW"). Some of our designs span multiple drawing sheets/files that all use the same system code.
On Sheet 1, the autotag feature works correctly. The pipeline starts at 1 and tag numbers increment as expected. Tagging and sync behave as intended.
When we create Sheet 2 (and subsequent sheets) that use the same system code, the autotag restarts at 1 instead of continuing from the last tag number used on Sheet 1.
Autotag appears to look only at the active drawing, not at tag numbers that already exist in PlantSight for that same system code across other drawings.
Requested enhancement
Add an option for autotag to:
Query PlantSight for all existing tags that share the same system code (e.g., all tags using system code "CW"), regardless of which drawing they were created in.
Determine the next available sequential tag number based on the PlantSight data, not just the current drawing.
When placing new tags, automatically continue numbering from the highest existing tag in PlantSight for that system code, instead of restarting at 1 on each new sheet.
Value / impact
Ensures consistent, non-duplicated tag numbering across multi-sheet drawings using the same system code.
Reduces the need for manual tag tracking and correction.
Lowers the risk of tag conflicts and data integrity issues between OpenPlant and PlantSight.
Improves efficiency when working with large systems spread across multiple sheets.
| How frequently will feature be used? | Several times a day |
| How much time will you save? | Almost every drawing we create has multiple sheets. This is an easy fix that will save us hours weekly in removing duplicates and manually keeping track of tags. |
