BRCM 2024: Equipment Terminal (Target) ID Not Updating for Unopened Equipment Files During Auto Routing Import

HI,

We are facing a workflow limitation in BRCM 2024 during the Auto Routing process.

When importing the Cable List and Equipment List, the system updates the database and the Equipment Terminal (Target) IDs are assigned only to the equipment CAD objects which are present in the design file that is open at the time of import. Any Terminals ID's belonging to other equipment design files that remain unopened do not get their Terminal IDs assigned or updated. This results in incomplete data mapping across the project.

Overall Steps,
1. Open any one equipment design file in BRCM 2024.
2. Import the Cable List and Equipment List to update the database.
3. Observe that Terminal (Target) IDs are assigned only for CAD objects in the currently opened file.
4. Terminals ID's in other equipment files (those not opened) remain without assigned Target IDs.

Later,
For every equipment file, we must manually open the design file, go to ID Manager → Update Design → Update Database, and repeat this process for each file and in-case we re-import modified Cable/Equipment Lists, we must again open every equipment file and repeat the same time consuming steps. So, This is impractical, especially for projects with a large number of equipment files.

Proposed Enhancement / Expected Behavior:
When Equipment List data is imported in any equipment file, BRCM should:

  • Automatically assign and update Terminal (Target) IDs for all equipment CAD objects across the entire project,

  • Without requiring users to manually open each equipment design file and run ID Manager updates.

This enhancement would make the Auto Routing workflow practical, scalable, and aligned with real project execution needs as Automating Terminal ID assignment across all equipment files would significantly improve productivity and reliability in BRCM 2024.

Thanks

How frequently will feature be used? Several times a day
How much time will you save? It will save significant time across the entire project cycle as repetitive manual work will be eliminated.
