Currently we have the feasibility to create intelligent Equipment from parametric solid independently similary we should have ability to create smart instrument from custom geometry.
We cannot use Class as Custom component from Piping tab because it becomes inline to that of pipeline and in return both changes pipelines nominal diameter.
If we have this option of creating Instrument like Create Equipment it would help to create instrument from custom geometry and can assign tags from instrument class from plantsight independently
This would be hepful at user level during instrumentation part mainly instrument panel , boxes etc.
How frequently will feature be used? | Several times a day |
How much time will you save? | currently if we force Equipment class to use Instru then geometry disappears |
Your Industry | Water & Waste Water |
In a plant project, the instruments will outnumber the types of equipment. Having a tool to allow the creation of instruments, from custom graphics should be included in OpenPlant Modeler.
We provide a custom equipment tool, and like this tool, a custom instrument tool could be used to associate the varied types of instruments to the class structure that exist in OpenPlant without the need for specialized draw scripts or the addition of instruments to the specifications. Instrument details are often times, not known until late in the design, so adding them to the specifications, each with their many and varied details is not feasible.
. Not all instruments are inline (IE. Flow Meters) and online (IE. Gauges) and as such, the current tools for creating custom piping fittings and instruments, falls short when it comes to covering free standing instruments and electrical components. This includes sensors, transmitters, switches and electrical panels.
There should be mechanism to create or establish relationship with equipment or piping component for which the instrument is placed.
Only the create custom instrument won't be that much helpful as we need to know the details as well that this instrument is placed for which component.
