In many cases, project designers and engineers start their 3D models without providing engineering data to modeled components. When the 3D arrangement is approved and designers/engineers need to provide detailed data, they need to modify each component manually. It is a tedious activity when they already have an excel or CSV containing all structured data.
The use of exporting XML properties and the import the modified XML will be very helpful!
We have customer request capability to simplify multi-component editing even in file based mode.
Select a class for example list of valves, export all or some properties in excel, edit values and reimport this excel to update properties can follow this workflow.
We can think if we need to filter property managed by spec, impact geometry ...
Also import from xls is available now in U8 for all tagged items. Considering this is what was meant by this idea, I am marking this as "will not implement". If there are more requirements that do not get fulfilled by these two features (Data Manager, xls import in PID and OPM) then please add details and we can review again. Thanks.
We do plan to add capability in Data Manager to bulk edit tagged components
