OpenPlant users would benefic from better IFC integration if OPM could export, at least, basic geometries to IFC. As the IFC file format has limitations to store plant design objects, OPM objects not mapped in IFC could be translated to basic entities to enable better BIM workflows.
The workflow to do this is long and convoluted. Users need to create a cloud project, create a cloud imodel, map files to be synced to the imodel, wait for sync to complete, create an export to iFC job, wait for the export to complete.
There are no controls to create multiple IFC files for several models. For file-based users, this process is not simple and dependent on admin users creating a bottleneck in the workflow.
We do not plan to implement export from within DGN at the moment. IFC export will be available in adhoc review or other cheaper subscriptions that Bentley offers
Hi Deepak
Thanks for you comment. The original idea is to benefit all OpenPlant Modeler users, even those without access to cloud based tools/PlantSight (i.e.: small and/or medium users).
Hi Pablo,
IFC export can be done from cloud based tool (iTwin Sync) or OpenPlant Modeler CE in PlantSight integrated mode. From there we can export IFC from imodel (connect project)
