Merge into Master should be supported in OpenPlant Modeler
In MicroStation, and other design tools like OpenBuildings Designer, the reference tool -Merge Into Master is supported. In OpenPlant Modeler, this is not supported and removes the EC Data associated to the components.
Merge into Master should be available min. for the creation of 2D drawing (section view) out of the 3D Model within the Microstation mode of OPM. I can understand if it cause problems within the Modeler, but this functionality should not be disable in the Microstation working mode.
When merge to master was function in OPM is cause major issue with data integrity and duplication of GUIDs. So I am generally not in favor of enabling the core MicroStation version of merge to master. I would rather see a functional “Copy from file” tools that would handle the data consistency and relationship requirements. The copy from file tool would need to give option of
copy over exactly to support cases where source file is being abandoned
Copy and Make new, where new GUIDs are generated and relationships are regenerated. This would support copying to files to create a second unit.
