got a request from PPA Slovakia:
In case there is a line (e.g. created in other CAD tools) possible to use as line to convert into raceway using the Raceway Generator it shall be possible as option to use the attached Raceway ID from this line and use it with same value in BRCM .
Thanks for this example. Can you verify for me if the user who requested this already had drawings setup this way such that the implementation of this feature would in fact be useful to them? Also, I'm not sure if this solution would only work for MicroStation files or if we could recognize AutoCAD files for example as well? It might be good to understand how the user comes by such files in the first place where they already have these lines and text setup to represent a raceway because I was under the impression that we often have to tell users to add a center line to their existing CAD drawings so that we can convert their dumb raceways to intelligent ones in the first place.
I used the Tag-Sets in MicroStation to attach Tags to lines, see dgn link and attached picture: https://bentley.sharefile.com/d-sa9bbf9ca9ab84d259865df73506b6275
Can you give me an example DGN file where you have a line and a text that are somehow associated to each other? It's not clear to me what MicroStation tools would allow this association to take place. Absent of that the only alternative implementation would be to locate text within a certain proximity to the line and let the user decide if that should be a tag somehow.
It´s difficult if the line and text (RW ID) is not associated to each other, but if the line has an attached tag (e.g. MicroStation) or if it´s created in AutoCAD with an attached attribute I guess it will be possible, if there attached multiple Tag/Attribute, I guess we need a kind of selector which shall be used for RW ID.
Alex, can you clarify this request more for me. Are you saying that the third party CAD line may somehow have an ID already associated with it that you now want to become the raceway ID when you use the Raceway Generator to convert the line? If so, how would we know if this ID text is really belonging to this line or just some random text on the drawing?
